Upon reading of the Charter for The City of Parma, Ohio, I was amazed at the Section 2.03. It seems that they thought they were giving us "SUCH A DEAL" by canceling out the 1.5 mill
Fire levy and the 1.5 mill Police levy that was VOTED in by the CITIZENS of Parma. They will replace them with a 3-mill levy. It also says that Council may levy up to an ADDITIONAL 3 MILLS EVERY YEAR
. Under this same Section 2.03 in the paragraph "c" they say the "Nothing in this Charter" will limit Council the power to levy ADDITIONAL TAXES on OTHER SUBJECTS
as long as it is permitted under the Constitution of laws of Ohio. Back in the 70's we gave the state the same powers. We DO NOT VOTE
for any tax that Ohio wants to levy against us. I believe that the VOTE of the people should be what levies tax. Why should we give away OUR VOTE to 9 people. I
believe every citizen of Parma should read this section very very carefully and decide if we want to give away our power to vote on taxes.
